IN AN ERA OF AI-GENERATED IMAGES, HOW ABOUT AUTHENTICITY?

By Shalev Man, Photographer and Co-founder of KAMO AI

While artificial intelligence is transforming photography through AI-created visuals, KAMO AI is taking a different path. Instead of generating artificial realities, we use AI to help people capture real spaces with professional-level photography, all while preserving authenticity.

Simplicity has been one of our core design principles from day one. We wanted to build a product that anyone could learn to use in just a couple of minutes, regardless of their photography experience. If the technology isn’t simple to use, it won’t solve the real problem.

What problem does KAMO HOUSE solve?

What if the biggest challenge in the future of visual content is not creating more AI-generated images, but knowing which ones can still be trusted?

In industries such as real estate, hospitality, and vacation rentals, trust is essential. Guests booking an apartment, travellers choosing a hotel, or buyers viewing a property expect online images to accurately reflect what they will experience. At the same time, presentation matters. Strong composition, perspective, and lighting can significantly improve how a property is perceived.

KAMO HOUSE was created to bridge this gap. We call our approach Robotic Photography, a new, evolving category in which AI transfers the knowledge and experience of a professional photographer to the user, rather than replacing reality with synthetic images.

Professional photography delivers outstanding results but is often expensive, time-consuming, and difficult to schedule. Although modern smartphones have excellent cameras, achieving professional-quality images still requires experience in composition, framing, perspective, and visual storytelling.

How was it created?

Throughout my career, I recognized that the missing ingredient was not better cameras, but guidance. During photography workshops, I observed that when I simply showed people where to stand, how to position their smartphone, and how to frame a scene, the quality of their photos improved dramatically.

This insight became the foundation of KAMO: an intelligent photography companion that guides users through every step of the shooting process.

The name KAMO, meaning “friend” in Czech, reflects our vision of an AI companion that helps anyone photograph like a professional.

Turning that vision into reality was far from simple. Several development teams believed the concept was impossible to build. The breakthrough came when I shared the idea with my childhood friend Eran Charas, a technology entrepreneur with over two decades of experience building AI solutions, mobile platforms, and scalable products. Eran immediately recognized the potential of the concept and mapped out the technological direction that would make it achievable. Together, we combined complementary expertise in photography, artificial intelligence, computer vision, entrepreneurship, and business leadership. Eran defined the technology strategy and product development roadmap, while I contributed my professional photography expertise, international management experience, and entrepreneurial background. This combination enabled us to develop KAMO HOUSE, our first AI-powered solution for real estate and hospitality.

How does it work?

Instead of generating images, KAMO HOUSE analyses each space in real time and acts like an automated professional photographer. Using artificial intelligence, computer vision, and augmented reality, it understands the environment, identifies the optimal shooting positions, and guides users with simple on-screen instructions showing exactly where to stand, how to position their smartphone, and how to frame each shot. Once everything is aligned, the photo is captured automatically through a fast, intuitive process that most users learn in just a few minutes, even with no previous photography experience. After each photo is taken, KAMO HOUSE automatically applies natural post-processing to deliver a consistent, professional result while remaining completely faithful to the real property.

As our company worked closely with property owners, managers, hotels, and real estate professionals, we identified another important need: floor plans. In response, KAMO HOUSE added floor plan generation, giving users another professional marketing asset that helps present properties more effectively and allows potential buyers and guests to better understand the layout before visiting.

What does it deliver?

The result is professional-level photos of a real place – not an AI-generated image, but an authentic one enhanced through intuitive-intelligent guidance.

By enabling property owners, hotels, vacation rental operators, and real estate professionals to create professional marketing images themselves, KAMO HOUSE reduces photography costs by up to 80% while improving the consistency and quality of property listings.

Although KAMO HOUSE is our first product, focused on real estate and hospitality, it represents a much broader vision: making professional-quality photography accessible to everyone. We aim to expand our technology across additional industries and use cases, enabling people to create authentic, professional photographs with the guidance of artificial intelligence.

Our mission is to help people capture real moments and real places exactly as they are, while presenting them in the most visually compelling way.
