Daniel Štech will become the new director of the foreign department of the Office of the President of the Republic

Daniel Štech will become the new director of the foreign department of the Office of the President of the Republic. He replaces Jaroslav Zajíček, who was appointed extraordinary and plenipotentiary ambassador of the Czech Republic to the Republic of Portugal.

“I am convinced that Daniel Štech will ensure continuity in the activities of the foreign department and will continue to provide the President of the Republic with professional service in the field of foreign policy. His long-term experience in Czech diplomacy and his previous work in the Office of the President of the Republic are a guarantee of a smooth connection to the work of Jaroslav Zajíček, whom I would like to thank for his professionalism and humanity in providing support to the President,” says the head of the Office of the President of the Republic, Milan Vašina.

Daniel Štech brings to the head of the foreign department more than ten years of experience in Czech diplomacy. He is a graduate of the Diplomatic Academy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He has worked for several years as secretary to the deputy minister and worked in the department of political planning. He followed it up with a posting to the embassy in Vienna, where he focused on the political agenda and the development of bilateral relations. He is fluent in English, German and French. In the past, he also engaged in professional translation activities. Since 2023, he has been working in the foreign department of the Office of the President of the Republic, where he participates in the preparation of the foreign policy agenda of the President of the Republic and the provision of professional background for the performance of his duties.
