The Italian Institute of Culture of Prague organized the opening of Fabrizio Corneli’s exhibition “L’ombra del mattino”, at the beautiful Institute’s Baroque Chapel (Vlašská 34).
An original project dedicated to the relationship between light, shadow and perception, the exhibition has been specially conceived to engage in dialogue with the spaces of our Institute.
Fabrizio Corneli transforms light and shadow into artistic matter. His installations invite visitors to observe space with new eyes, where unexpected images emerge from light and perception becomes an integral part of the artwork. Through a subtle balance of rigor and poetry, the artist reveals new possibilities of seeing, taking the audience beyond the boundary between the visible and the invisible.
The exhibition, organised by the Italian Cultural Institute in Prague under the patronage of the Embassy of Italy in Prague, is also part of the programme of the international design festival Designblok and the 22nd edition of the Day of Contemporary Art.
Fabrizio Corneli was born in Florence in 1958. He studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Florence and simultaneously studied semiotics at the University of Bologna. From the beginning of his artistic career, he focused his work on the relationship between light and shadow, which became central elements of his artistic expression. His installations have been presented in museums, galleries, and cultural institutions around the world, and many of his permanent works are now housed in public spaces and private collections in various countries.
The exhibition will be open to the public from October 8, 2026 till 6 January 2027, in the Baroque chapel and other exhibition spaces of the Italian Cultural Institute in Prague.
